The Picasso Museum
The Picasso Museum has been housed since 1985 in one of the most important private hotels of the Marais, The Hotel Salé, built in the 17th century. It was created to receive the donation in 1979 by inheritors of Picasso and has become further enriched with numerous acquisitions. It conserves a unique collection of several thousand works of the genius (paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, ceramics,...) covering his whole career, as well as his archives (100.000 manuscripts and prints and 17.000 photographs), also including his private collection of primitive art, ancient art or modern art. The Picasso museum regularly houses temporary exhibitions which bring together the artist's major works from the great international modern art collections. |
