Museos > The
Châteaux de Malmaison
Acquired by Josephine Bonaparte in 1799, the castle
of Malmaison (dating back to the 17th century) was the residence
of the First Consul and his wife. It was also the seat of the
French government, with the Tuileries, from 1800 to 1802. After
her divorce from the Emperor, Josephine retires to Malmaison and
acquired the neighbouring château of Bois-Préau in
1810. Both residences, transformed in museums (the first one in
1906 and the second en 1958) are dedicated to Napoleonic History.
