Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., which is marketed under the name Walmart, is a US company that operates a network of department stores. According to Fortune Global 500 2008, Wal-Mart is the largest public company in the world based on revenue. Founded by Sam Walton in 1962, Wal-Mart began to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972.
